Introduction to SERP Score:
SERP Score supposes that the first result is perfect, and it's valueless without the top 20 results. Only SERP is concerned, the popularity of keyword(s) is ignored. The principle of calculation is based upon the effectiveness and performance of SERP among the mainstream search engines, say:
- For example, in Search Engine A (short for "SE_A"), statistically about 50% of users visit the URL of the first result which will be full scored always, and about 30% of users visit the second one. The second one will be scored at 0.6, 30% divided by 50%.
- Take Search Engine B (short for "SE_B") into consideration. SE_A owns 70% of market, SE_B owns 30%. The URL which is the second result in SE_A and the first result in SE_B for the same keyword(s) will be scored at 0.72, 0.6 multiplied by 70% plus 1 multiplied by 30%.
- The rest may be deduced by analogy.
- Final score will be mutiplied by 1000 to be easily understood.
The data about market share of search engines and hit rate of top 20 results are referred to several ways such as public accessible reports by the third-party authorities. They may not be absolutely accurate and timely, although any latest reference materials will be involved as soon as possible.
Generally, it's believed that SERP Score represents an objective, true and fair view of the effectiveness and performance of SERP.
